01
The village of Zonza, perched at an altitude of around 900 metres in the heart of Corsica's Natural Park, is the age-old gateway to the treasures of the Alta Rocca. Its privileged location offers panoramic views of the majestic Aiguilles de Bavella and the Incudine. Strolling through the village's narrow streets, you'll be touched by the old granite houses built on boulders, overlooking the Asinao valley. The village has managed to preserve its natural beauty thanks to development on a human scale. It's a popular holiday destination for its hotels and restaurants, offering plenty of opportunities for outdoor activities in the surrounding area. Also make the most of your stay to discover the Viséo racecourse, the highest in Europe, where lively horse-riding days await in a friendly atmosphere.
What to see Sainte Lucie de Porto-Vecchio, the the coastline and its towers
Plunge into the heart of the 16th century, when the first towers were erected under the Genoese impetus of the Office Saint Georges. At a time when Corsica occupied a strategic position in the Mediterranean, Genoese towers played a crucial role in defence and communication. Among these sentinels of the past, two exceptional towers stand along the coast of Sainte Lucie de Porto-Vecchio.
Just 4 km from the village, in the Gulf of Pinarello, stands a Genoese tower on its secluded island, "Isula Di I Corsi ". Square in shape, it reveals itself like a rare pearl, accessible only by sea.
Rising to a height of 30 metres, the de Fautea tower offers a breathtaking view between the east coast to the north and the Tour de Pinarellu to the south. Although it was attacked and burnt by the Turks in 1650, it has been restored to its former glory by a recent restoration and is now listed as a Historic Monument.
