This heritage trail is one of Corsica's certified trails.
You will discover the rich heritage of Monacia: an 18th century house, a traditional bread oven, at the exit of the village and at the end of the tour, the
old cemetery with the oldest burials dating back to the end of the 18th century, orii (Cubia, Iddastricciolu...), stritti, mills and canals to power them (those of Tiaddori and Ghjarbeddi in particular). Caves and "orii" abound. These remarkably beautiful "orii" have been used for centuries as dwellings, burial sites or grain silos. Equally remarkable are the dry-stone flour mills built along two streams, u Spartanu and la Cioccia. The part where the paddle wheel turned was made of stone and topped by a vault over which the millstone lay.
The trail begins at the village square. It winds its way through the narrow streets before taking the path leading to the river, crossing the D50. Follow the signs.
